OpenLaszlo Fundamentals
OpenLaszlo Fundamentals is a two-day course that teaches developers the basics of using the OpenLaszlo platform to build rich Internet and Ajax applications. Students will leave this class understanding the essentials of using LZX, OpenLaszlo’s markup language, to create compelling web-delivered applications. This highly interactive class includes hands-on application development. The first day covers topics in detail, while on the second day the class builds a photo-album rich Internet application that displays an XML-driven list of pictures. By the end of this class you will:
- Understand what OpenLaszlo is
- Install the OpenLaszlo platform
- Be familiar with coding in LZX to create custom interfaces
- Use JavaScript in OpenLaszlo apps to provide interaction
- Understand the use of different kinds of media in a Laszlo application
- Use pre-built OpenLaszlo components
- Customize the look of your application using fonts
- Have explored animation in OpenLaszlo
- Learn the basics of building data-driven applications
- Have used the data binding and replication features of LZX to drive a list of photographs as well as to drive a standard LZ component
- Have built an app that submits data to an HTTP REST service, and parsed an XML response
- Know where to look for documentation & online resources
- Follow application architecture best practices
- Write an interactive OpenLaszlo application
All attendees will also receive all code created or used during the course.
