Laszlo signs global OEM agreement with Alcatel-Lucent

Laszlo Webtop platform provides user interface functionality for Alcatel-Lucent's award-winning Rich Communication Manager

SAN MATEO, Calif. (May 11, 2009): Laszlo Systems, a global leader in Rich Internet Application (RIA) software and the original developer of OpenLaszlo, today announced that it has significantly expanded its global distribution channels by entering into a global OEM agreement with Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU). Under the terms of this agreement, Alcatel-Lucent will market its Rich Communication Manager – of which Laszlo’s Webtop platform is an element – to service providers, enabling them to deliver unified messaging across fixed, mobile and IP devices to subscribers.

Webtop is a sophisticated platform that unifies access to an expanding suite of Rich Internet Applications. Webtop Connectors allow easy integration with existing back-end systems. Webtop Smart Objects allow effortless integration between different applications enabling drag and drop, inline display/playback, and standards-based import/export. With Webtop, users can access their data anywhere, any time, from any device. By leveraging Laszlo’s award winning OpenLaszlo technology, channel partners like Alcatel-Lucent can quickly bring to market new products to meet the unique needs of their customers.

With this solution users of the Alcatel-Lucent Rich Communication Manager have an online unified messaging web interface where they can drag and drop elements and conveniently and intuitively manage their communications at home, work or in between. End users can retrieve, view, respond and forward voicemail, SMS, MMS, email and faxes from a web portal connected to a network address book to store all their contacts. At this year's Andrew Seybold Choice Awards event during CTIA in Las Vegas, the product won the award for "Most Innovative Mobile Application" of 2009.

“This marks a significant milestone in our progress with Webtop. Since its release in late 2007 we have enjoyed strong sales results with over seven million user licenses sold. We are pleased that Alcatel-Lucent, one of the premier suppliers to network operators globally, has selected our product and technology for such a strategic part of its portfolio. In addition, we expect that this will help us to more rapidly expand the adoption of the product on a global scale,” said George Shahid, President and CEO of Laszlo Systems.

Webtop is a strong solution for network operators who need to deliver convergence solutions to their customers. Because of it’s adherence to open-standards, the OpenLaszlo platform is ideal for partners like Alcatel-Lucent to use in developing their own, differentiated solutions.

“Laszlo's Webtop platform has unique capabilities that allow us to deliver the convergence experience our customers are demanding, while also enabling them to incorporate their own rich Internet applications to provide service differentiation in the marketplace," said Gani Nayak, President of Alcatel-Lucent’s Rich Communications.
