Chris Helgeson, Senior Vice President of Engineering
Chris Helgeson is Senior Vice President of Engineering at Laszlo Systems. He is responsible for driving Laszlo's product development, including Laszlo Webtop and its affiliated applications, as well as continuing the advancement of OpenLaszlo, now in its fourth release.
With more than 27 years of engineering and management expertise, he most recently served as vice president of engineering at eBay, Inc. Prior to eBay, he held VP of engineering positions at ADP (Automatic Data Processing), Saba, Carnelian, and Verity. Earlier, he held senior management and technical positions at General Magic, cc:Mail (now IBM), Network Equipment Technologies, and Syntex (now Roche).
Chris's extensive background includes work on best-of-breed enterprise software, high-transaction e-commerce web destinations, learning management systems, Internet publishing and delivery systems, search and retrieval engines, mobile programming (he is a co-inventor of the Telescript language), communication and networking, email, and network management. He has played a key technical role throughout his career in taking three companies public, and in selling a fourth.
Chris received Bachelor's degrees in French and Biochemistry after studying at the Sorbonne and U.C. Berkeley, and has been programming computers since 1970. He has received four software patents and has published three studies relating to human computer interaction and biochemistry.
