Lead UI Engineer

(Location: San Mateo, CA)

Laszlo Systems, the creator of the OpenLaszlo open source development platform, is seeking a full-time engineer in the SF bay area to lead the development of the new Laszlo Calendar application. To succeed in this position, you will need real depth of experience building graphical user interfaces. The ideal candidate will have ambidextrous left and right brain skills: a keen eye for interactive and visual design plus the smarts to develop high-performance code.

The next generation Web isn't about the technology used to create it -- it's about the user experience. Being buzzword compliant is a side-effect of making the right technology choices, but that's not the goal. You want to make software that real humans want to interact with daily. You don't just want to create the desktop experience on the web. If you have a vision for a web experience that moves beyond desktop UI, this may be the right job for you.

Whether your experience is with Cocoa, Windows, JSP, Flash, XAML or AJAX, you will be developing UI using the OpenLaszlo LZX language. While you consider responding to this post, visit the OpenLaszlo on-line tutorial. If it seems like something you would enjoy, give us a holler. Also, consider making a small LZX application to send us along with your resume.

If you are interested in working with technology that inspires your inner geek, yet still produces software that your mother will enjoy, you will want to join us in creating next generation web applications that will be used by millions of people. We agree with Alan Kay when he said "The best way to predict the future is to invent it."

If you are creative, team-oriented, do brilliant work on deadline and can work in the San Francisco Bay Area, email your resume as a Word, PDF, or HTML attachment to resumes@laszlosystems.com .
